Empowering Young Minds
Equine-Facilitated Learning and Wellbeing at Horses 4 Life
Horses 4 Life offers a range of equine-facilitated learning experiences that we have found very valuable to young people who struggle in a traditional school environment. Our sessions are young person-led. They are small enough to ensure every young person is supported and valued but large enough to help create friendships and teamwork and reduce the feeling of isolation.
All our staff are trained, DBS checked, and the centre is fully insured. To see our range of policies please see our policy page.
Enrichment and Wellbeing Programmes
This programme offers young people the opportunity to be outdoors and learn how to care for our horses, sheep, chickens, and other animals.
We have a horticultural area where we teach children about growing vegetables.
We also have a ‘forest’ den that encourages play, teamwork, imagination, and physical activity.
Equine-Facilitated Learning Programs
Ground-based sessions based around mutual trust, learning natural horsemanship skills, which will encourage calmness and grounding, develop self-awareness, increase self-esteem, and build confidence. These are run through term time and are 1.5-hour sessions either on a 1-1 basis or in a small group.
AQA Unit Award Scheme
We are an AQA Unit Award Scheme centre. The UAS allows all students to engage with learning and, for some, see a clearer route towards GSCEs. Their confidence will grow as they achieve and build core skills and knowledge in a range of subjects. UAS is inclusive and suitable for learners of all abilities and can be individually tailored to their needs.
